China - one person at a time

We came to China in the fall of 1988 to try a couple years of teaching ...and 19 years later we still love China and feel it is more like home than here in the USA.  Now - our age, the Beijing air pollution, new work visa restrictions, and the Lord's leading tell us our work time in China is over.  We plan to go back in April 2008 for a while and then come back to Rockford Illinois to finally "retire". (Ha!)

Here is a photo of us taken October 1, 2007 in Macomb Illinois, home of Western Illinois University, where Bob at age 46 went back to school to finish a batchelor's degree.  It was taken at a 60th wedding anniversary of friends from our Macomb years.  With Faye at 85 and Bob soon to be 86 years we feel we're doing pretty well.

Here's a message to all you retirees out there:

These have been the best years of our lives!

China living is easy, a slower-paced living.  It's a lot like turning the clock back a number of years.

On the other hand - other parts of China living (Beijing City) are very fast-paced and hard to believe (Building, building, building, and cars, cars, cars.) (Did I mention pollution?)
